Sea Containers WA donates food to local charitable community group

In early June we received notification that one of our clients had gone into administration.
After liaising with the appointed administrators, we realized that the 10’ refrigerated container we had out on hire was still full of food.
Upon receiving the container back in our Kwinana Beach depot, we spoke with a few local charities to find out the best place to donate the food supplies too.

Sea Containers WA works with many local charitable groups within the community, and after careful consideration and discussions, we decided upon donating the perishable products to OzHarvest Perth.
OzHarvest was founded in 2004 and is the leading food rescue organization in Australia, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it direct to more than 900 charities who support people in need across Australia.
It operates in in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Newcastle and Perth and in regional communities across the country and since its inception, it has delivered over 60 million meals and saved more than 20,000 tons of food from ending up in landfill.

OzHarvest is the only food rescue organization in Australia collecting surplus food from all types of food providers including fruit and vegetable markets, supermarkets, hotels, wholesalers, farmers, stadiums, corporate events, catering companies, shopping centers, delis, cafes, restaurants, film and TV shoots and boardrooms. They collect food from more than 2,000 commercial outlets and deliver it, free of charge, to more than 1,000 charities Australia wide.
