We are often asked from our clients the best way to pack their container, and whether containers are a secure option for their belongings.
To this end, we thought we would clarify a few of the frequently asked issues below to help.
We recommend that anything stored with water content (dehumidifiers, water tanks etc.) have the water removed to avoid moisture build up inside the container/s.
Any gas cylinders or jerry cans should be empty prior to storage to avoid any flammable goods issues. Drain all fuel and oil from lawn mowers, chain saws and other equipment. Disconnect all batteries
Larger personal items such as furniture, etc., should be blanket wrapped and/or protected in plastic or with soft wrap padding.
If you are planning to move the container to another location, we suggest packing with the weight evenly spread within the container; this will help avoid transportation issues.
Each container comes with lashing points on each side, top and bottom, to assist you when strapping your bigger items within the container.
Your personal possessions should not include anything that is poisonous, flammable, corrosive, perishable, fuels, cleaning chemicals, insecticides.
Personal items should be wrapped and loaded into strong cardboard moving boxes. Reinforce the bottom of all boxes with plenty of tape. Fill each box to its capacity, using fillers to fill any empty spaces. Use original shipping boxes for computers, printers and other electronic items where possible.
Be sure to use the space wisely within the container. Make the most of the height, don’t stack everything at ground level or you will quickly run out of storage space.
