Over the past 6 months our General Manager Ben Truscott and Luke Clatworthy the Principal of East Waikiki Primary School have been working together to coordinate a student visit to the Sea Containers WA Kwinana Head Office as part of the schools 2017 Student Leadership Training Program. The aim of this program is to assist year 6 students to investigate the many career pathways that are available especially in agriculture, engineering, construction, mining, and manufacturing, both locally and across the state.
On the 17th March, 12 students from the Leadership program at East Waikiki P.S attended our depot.
Ben spoke to the students about the importance of Quality, Efficiency, Safety, Communication and Training within our business. Ben said he “was surprised with how engaging the young group were and was impressed by their detailed questions”
Following the discussion the group was taken on a tour of Sea Container WA’s 13000sq meter site where the group were spoken to by Zac Schueller, our Modifications leading hand, regarding the current container modifications we have underway.
The group also spoke with James Ratu, our Depot Manager, who discussed with the group about his role and responsibilities within the business.
The group also had the opportunity to have their photo taken in our large container forklift. The tour finished with more questions over morning tea.
Planning is already in place in preparation for the next group of students.
